We’re adding something a little different (and a lot of fun!) to this year’s North Queensland Branch Championships on Saturday 11 October… a flash mob!
The idea is simple: when the carnival kicks off at 10:30am, competitors, officials, water safety, age managers, and supporters will all come together for a surprise dance to celebrate the start of an exciting weekend of surf sports on Four Mile Beach. It’s about energy, community, and showing off the spirit that makes surf lifesaving so special.

Learn the Dance with Us
To make sure everyone can join in, we’ve put together videos that break down the routine step by step. You don’t need any dance experience, it’s all about having a go, moving together, and having fun.
We’re sharing these videos with our friends at Etty Bay SLSC, Mission Beach SLSC, Cairns SLSC, and Ellis Beach SLSC so that every club can learn the moves and take part on the day.
Special Thanks
A massive thank you to Saskia from Bodies in Motion, who has kindly created the dance for us and is helping to make this idea come to life.
Get Involved
So, whether you’re competing, volunteering, or cheering from the sidelines, we’d love to see you on the sand, joining in the flash mob.
See the practice videos below, grab some space at home, and get ready to dance with us at the North Queensland Surf Life Saving Branch Championships in Port Douglas!

And this is what it should look like 😅
See You on the Sand!
Now that you’ve got the moves, it’s time to practice, have some fun, and get ready to shine. Whether you’re a nipper, parent, competitor, or supporter, this flash mob is for everyone, and the more people who join in, the better!
We can’t wait to kick off the Branch Championships on Saturday 11 October with all our clubs dancing together on Four Mile Beach. Let’s show off the energy, spirit, and teamwork that makes surf lifesaving so special.
