Volunteering at Port Douglas Surf Life Saving Club
Volunteering with the Port Douglas Surf Life Saving Club is about more than red and yellow flags — it’s about community, connection, and making a difference.

Whether you love the beach, prefer to stay dry, or just want to lend a hand where you can. There’s a role for everyone in Surf Life Saving.

On the Beach
Patrols:
Volunteers play a vital role in keeping our beaches safe.
-
Patrolling alongside fellow members to protect locals and visitors
-
Supporting water safety at club events and training days
-
Helping create a safe, welcoming beach environment for everyone
Full training and support are provided — no experience required.

Supporting Our Nippers:
Our Nippers program wouldn’t run without volunteers.
-
Age Managers help guide, organise and encourage our junior members
-
Assist with activities, beach safety and skill development
-
Be involved and close to your children as they learn and grow
It’s a rewarding way for parents and carers to be part of the action.

Behind the Scenes
Not all volunteering happens on the sand — and these roles are just as important.
-
Running BBQs and helping at club events
-
Selling raffles and assisting with fundraising activities
-
Helping with sign-on days, competitions and community events
-
Supporting administration, communications and club operations

More Than Volunteering
Surf Lifesaving Offers:
-
New skills and nationally recognised training
-
Strong friendships and a sense of belonging
-
Opportunities for leadership and personal development
-
The chance to give back to the Port Douglas community
